Fired using only natural wood
The extruding machine, dating from 1958, is loaded by hand with two different types of clay. One is grey, greasy and dense; the other is red, dry and sandy.
The two clays are mixed together with water to obtain an homogeneous elastic ‘paste’.
Two sets of rollers then crush the iron and quartz pyrites in the clay to smooth and refine it.
The clay is moulded into a strip from which the tiles are cut and then dried.
